Why Under Armour?

Under Armour has an important feature. It works. Proven effective in the streets of our cities to  combat zones worldwide. Yes, you can buy a spandex shirt at Sprawl-Mart for $12.99. But that's all you get is a spandex shirt. You can buy a cotton T-shirt for $4.99 and you have a cotton t-shirt. Only Under Armour has their patented Moisture Transport System, combined with other technologies to keep you dry and your body temperature constant.

Important features:

Weight: Under Armour is 52% lighter than a cotton t-shirt after 60 minutes of exercise. In testing Under Armour released 80% of its moisture after 30 minutes rest. The cotton shirt released only 39% of its moisture. Under Armour remains dryer and lighter.

Temperature: An increase in core body temperature can cause muscle fatigue and slow down reaction time. The garment needs to keep the skin surface as cool as possible so the body can effectively release heat and maintain maximum performance. In the infrared photos below the hottest areas are red, warm areas are orange and neutral cooler areas are green. the top picture is Under Armour while the bottom is a cotton t-shirt. It's easy to see the cooling effect of Under Armour. In fact, Under Amour was an average 3.5 degrees F cooler than cotton. 

Exercise Effort: Testing with athletes provided consistent feedback showing that Under Armour reduced their exercise effort compared to other garments tested. They reported feeling cooler, drier and able to perform better.

Less weight,  lower temperature,  better performance. Sound like something you would prefer to slip on under your armor? Or you can go to a Spawl-Mart type store and buy a look-alike Spandex shirt.

Under Amour Tactical Line features many components unique to military or public safety use. Most notable difference between Tactical and Under Armour sold in sporting goods store is the use of subdued logos on the chest so that turtlenecks can be embroidered with department initials or left as is without a visible Under Armour logo. New to the line is LockerTag Technology which is being phased into stock during 2005.  

Terminology:

ColdGear® - Used when it's cold! The ultimate base layer for cold conditions. Delivers superior core temperature regulation and moisture transport via a two-layer fabrication; a soft brushed inner layer helps lock in the heat and repel moisture to the outer layer, where evaporation takes over.  Delivers warmth without weight and unrestricted mobility.

Lockertag™ Technology - Used on all tactical Under Armour products. A heatseal tag rather than a garment label. Eliminates scratching and provides size info and a space for the owners unit or ID number.

Armour Block™ - Prevents the growth of bacteria and combats odor in the most extreme weather conditions. Reduces risk of infection. Embedded in the fibers of the garment.
